Getting IT Done

The current economic downturn is not universally bad news for CIOs and other technology leaders. Sluggish economies or markets can actually mean good news for certain segments of the industry and for projects aimed at using these segments. An army may move on its belly but organizations in flux are most dependent on maintaining and enhancing communications both within the organization and externally to constituent communities.

Think about it! We have experienced no less than four similar “crashes” in the past thirty plus years. What happened in those times is what can happen now with good management and true planning rather than simply reacting to the pronouncement “cut costs”. Cutting costs on IT means a great deal more than sharpening one’s pencil and slashing jobs and ancillary projects. Cutting costs is managing costs through good planning and tighter review of ROI for each and every project plus these activities also open doors to implementing realistically beneficial projects and strategies into an organization.
